Alemany almond turrón

The region of Catalonia is dominated by almond trees, allowing the region to produce the most wonderful turrones, marzipan and tortas. Traditionally Christmas sweets, turrón comes in a variety of types: duro (hard), blando (soft), or combined with ingredients like honey and egg yolk. There is very little difference in the way that turrón is produced today from that of the last several centuries, particularly with a producer like Alemany from Lleida, who are the most highly respected artisan turrón makers in the region.
